What does SkyPilot do?
SkyPilot is an AI compute platform that commercializes the popular open-source SkyPilot project developed at UC Berkeley's Sky Computing Lab. It acts as a control plane that pools compute across 20+ clouds, neoclouds, Kubernetes, and Slurm into a single interface, automatically routing workloads to the most available and cheapest GPUs without code rewrites. Founded by Databricks co-founder Ion Stoica with CEO Zongheng Yang, it launched from stealth in July 2026 with $20M in seed funding.
