Job Description

About Engine At Engine, we’re transforming business travel into something personalized, rewarding, and simple. For too long, managing travel and spend has been overwhelming and fragmented — we’re here to change that. We believe the future of travel should be seamless and powered by technology that delights customers at every step. That’s why we’re building a platform that brings together corporate travel, a powerful charge card, and modern spend management in one place. To make this vision real, we’re looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel. More than 30,000 companies already rely on Engine to support over 1 million travelers and billions in annual bookings each year. Cash flow positive with rapid growth, we pair exclusive Engine-only rates, industry-leading rewards, and intelligent automation to help businesses save money while delivering world-class personalization and convenience. Backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira, Engine has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing travel and fintech platforms in North America, with honors including the Deloitte Fast 500 and Built In’s Best Places to Work. About the Role Design at Engine is made up of 35+ incredible product designers, creatives, art directors, brand managers, and leaders driving product vision and shaping a design culture like no other. Designers at Engine are part of what we call the Big 4—the core team of product, design, engineering, and data that drive the roadmap and vision for their area. Together, you’ll shape strategy for your area and ship features that have immediate and lasting impact on the product. Successful designers at Engine chase opportunities, have strong conviction, and hold a high bar for product excellence.  The Flights team owns Engine's flight booking experience from first search to final selection. As a Staff Product Designer, you'll set the design bar for Flights Search—shaping how millions of travelers discover, compare, and choose the right flight, fast, confidently, and without friction. This is a hands-on, technical, AI-native role at the heart of our business. You'll design systems and patterns that scale: ones that look elegant, ship at scale, and reduce design dependency rather than create it. You'll partner with product and engineering at the architecture layer and model what AI-native design looks like for the whole team. We're looking for someone who's already ahead of the curve: building prototypes in code, running Cursor and Figma Make as daily tools, and designing components that let PMs and EMs ship independently without waiting on design. Someone who gets excited about refining a high-volume product surface and who demonstrates craft through self-initiated improvements, not just assigned work. If you love designing the moment where intent turns into action, and you want to do it at massive scale with serious technical depth, this role is for you. Here's what you'll do:

Partner across disciplines to define and deliver features that meet real user needs. Model AI-native ways of working for the Flights team, showing what's possible, not just talking about it. Turn complex ideas into clear, simple flows. Design for the best outcomes. Build trust and collaboration with product, engineering, and design peers while raising the quality bar across the org. Lead design reviews, refine how we gather feedback and make decisions. Continuously push fellow designers to sharpen their craft and clarity.

Here's what we're looking for:

Mastery of the full product development process—from product planning and discovery to concepts, build-ready designs, prototypes. Already ahead of the AI curve. Builds prototypes in code, integrates AI into the design workflow as a daily operating tool, not a side project. Proven experience managing stakeholders in partnership with PMs, engineers, data, and executives. Designs patterns, templates, and components that enable PMs and EMs to ship paper cuts independently. Clear communication and storytelling skills—you can explain not just what you designed, but why.

Here’s what you get: At Engine, extraordinary effort is met with extraordinary returns. We turn ambitious employees into industry leaders by providing:

Unmatched growth: You’re surrounded by the best in the biz and we invest in our top performers. Ownership and freedom: You're a driver, not a passenger, of our success. Rebellious spirit: We never say no to a good idea and are willing to take smart risks. Unconventional collaboration: We play by our own rules  The best you: We expect that everyone shows up as their true self, never self-sensor.

Outpace the ordinary at Engine. Compensation Our compensation packages are based on several factors, including your experience, expertise, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, total compensation may include equity and/or variable pay (OTE). Your recruiter will share your complete compensation package as you move through the process. Base Pay Range $155,000 — $215,000 USD The Engine Edge: Perks & Compensation We believe in rewarding great work with great benefits:

Perks and benefits may vary based on employment type, location, and more. Ready to Build the Future of Work Travel? Join us on our mission to transform how work travel works—for businesses, for travelers, and for the industry. Apply now and let’s make travel simpler, smarter, and more enjoyable—together.
