Job Description

Responsibilities Global Sourcing & Supplier Strategy

Develop and execute sourcing strategies for battery cells (pouch, cylindrical, prismatic) and pack-level components, including structural, thermal, and electromechanical subassemblies. Work with a cross-functional team to identify, qualify, and onboard cell and pack suppliers Lead RFX, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations across global regions, covering all commercial aspects of the supply chain. Drive supplier footprint decisions aligned with cost, capacity, and geopolitical risk Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends from raw material to technology roadmap and competitive intelligence

Cost, Tooling & Scalability

Own should-cost models for cells and packs, driving costs down through design collaboration, process optimization, and commercial negotiations. Define tooling strategies, capacity investments, and ramp plans with suppliers. Balance prototype speed with production scalability without burning bridges or budgets.

NPI & Engineering Partnership

Support NPI from early design through mass production, managing prototypes for test assembly, functionality, and performance validation. Partner with engineering teams to influence DFX and reduce cost and lead time at both the cell and pack level. Source and manage prototype, pilot, and production suppliers while meeting aggressive timelines.

Supplier Performance & Risk Management

Own supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness. Lead capacity planning, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation for long-lead and critical battery components. Resolve supply disruptions decisively and prevent repeats.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Act as the supply chain owner for battery cell and pack systems. Communicate sourcing strategies, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to technical and executive teams. Operate with urgency, data, and accountability in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications Required Qualifcations:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field. Experience with batteries at both the pack level and cell level (pouch, cylindrical, prismatic) 5+ years of experience in supply chain development, or sourcing management Strong understanding of NPI support and scaling production in hardware-focused companies, through mass production. Skilled at establishing strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Able and willing to travel internationally and domestically approximately 25% of the time.

Bonus Qualifications:

Experience in robotics, EV, automotive, or high-volume electromechanical/battery products. Engineering degree Previous work at a startup or on a very lean team Comfortable working directly with drawings, BOMs, and cost breakdowns.

  The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $140,000 - $220,000 annually. The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
